Gustav Baumann (1881-1971) was a German-born American printmaker and artist known for his colored woodcuts. He emigrated to the United States in 1906 and settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he became a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. Baumann's works are characterized by their vibrant colors, folk-art influences, and scenes of daily life and nature. He is considered one of the greatest color woodcut artists of the 20th century and his works are held in many major museum collections.
